Black Friday is here. I thought I'd get into the spirit of things and create something using activated charcoal. I love the idea of black food. It's so rare and fun to see! So I thought I'd create a pretty smoothie bowl using some activated charcoal to really show it off! With all the shopping I have planned for the weekend, a nutritious and filling breakfast is definitely in order. This Activated Charcoal Smoothie Bowl is kinda as healthy as it gets. It's packed full of fruit, nuts and seeds - and activated charcoal of course! Winner!
Activated charcoal doesn't have much flavour. What it does have is loads of health benefits and a beautiful, dramatic colour - and who doesn't want that in their smoothie bowls?!

Activated Charcoal Smoothie Bowl
- 1 banana fresh or frozen
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- ½ cup mixed berries fresh or frozen
- 2 tbsp maple syrup (or honey for non-vegan option)
- 5 - 7 almonds
- 2 tsp activated charcoal powder
- granola (for serving)
- Place ingredients in a blender and blend on high speed until completely smooth.
- Pour smoothie into a bowl and top with fruit and granola.
