Strawberry Almond Butter Smoothie Recipe without Banana
I love making recipes with strawberries. They have so much flavour and natural sweetness, they always add something special to a recipe. And that is true for this tasty smoothie recipe!
Take this Strawberry Sheet Cake for example - it is full of fresh strawberry flavour and it is one of my most favourite go-to recipes.
But back to this incredible smoothie! It is thick and creamy, but still so so good for you. It is a well-balanced smoothie recipe containing protein, vitamins, fibre, and healthy fats.
And along with all this goodness, it also tastes amazing! Even without adding any banana to the recipe, it is still thick and creamy and full of natural sweetness.
WHY YOU'LL LOVE THIS ALMOND BUTTER SMOOTHIE
- Healthy and delicious. This smoothie uses ingredients that are full of nutrients but also taste delicious.
- Easy to make. This smoothie can be made in just minutes using fresh or frozen fruit and pantry-staple ingredients.
- All natural. All the sweetness and flavor in this smoothie come purely from natural plant-based ingredients.
- A protein boost. Not only is this smoothie full of bright berry flavor, it is also full of protein and healthy fats from the almond butter.
Ingredients Needed & Notes
- Strawberries. You can use fresh or frozen berries to make your smoothie.
- Rolled oats. Old-fashioned, rolled oats are recommended for the best texture, but you can also use steel-cut oats.
- Almond milk. I like to use almond milk for this smoothie to enhance the nutty, almond flavor. But you can also use any other preferred non-dairy milk alternative such as oat milk, coconut milk, or macadamia milk.
- Almond butter. This tasty nut butter gives the smoothie a delicious creaminess and thick decadence, as well as provides protein and healthy fats. It is best to use unsweetened, natural almond butter for smoothies.
- Agave syrup. You could also use maple syrup as an alternative sweetener substitute. Adjust the amount that you add according to your personal preference and as well as depending on how sweet your strawberries are.
- Vanilla extract. This enhances the overall flavor of the smoothie but can be omitted if you do not have any.
This smoothie is also great for adding any of your favorite supplements, such as:
- collagen powder
- protein powder
- maca powder
- flax seeds
Should you use fresh or frozen strawberries?
Some recipes need fresh strawberries, and others recommend frozen. So it is always dependent on what you're making whether fresh or frozen will be best. For smoothies, frozen strawberries are great to add that chilled, frozen texture and feeling - but using fresh will be just as tasty!
How to Make a Strawberry Almond Butter Smoothie (No Banana)
Smoothies are so quick and easy to make - I think that's one of the reasons I love them so much! And this smoothie is no exception. It requires very little prep and so you can have your delicious smoothie ready in minutes.
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
STEP ONE
Place the ingredients in a high-speed blender, starting with the milk.
STEP TWO
Blend until smooth and creamy. Check the consistency of the smoothie and add more milk if a thinner smoothie is preferred and more agave syrup if you prefer a sweeter smoothie.
STEP THREE
Pour into serving glasses and enjoy immediately. You can optionally top your smoothie with fresh fruit and mint.
Optional Adjustments
The thickness of this Vegan Strawberry Almond Smoothie can be adjusted to your preferred consistency by changing the amount of almond milk that you use. If you prefer a thicker smoothie, add only half a cup of almond milk.
This strawberry smoothie with almond milk can also be altered to use any other milk option, whether that be dairy or dairy-free milk options. I love making this recipe with coconut milk as well.
The amount of agave syrup can also be adjusted depending on how sweet you like your smoothie. You can also swap out the agave syrup for honey for a non-vegan option.
STORING YOUR SMOOTHIE
FRIDGE
Smoothies are best enjoyed immediately after blending. But you can also store them in an airtight jar in the fridge for 1 - 2 days. The smoothie might separate slightly while stored - but just give it a quick stir before enjoying it!
FREEZER
You can also freeze your Strawberry Almond Butter Smoothie with No Banana. Simply place it in an airtight freezer-safe jar, and freeze for up to 3 months. To defrost the smoothie, place it in the fridge the night before you want to drink it. Then stir and enjoy the next day!
RECIPE NOTES & TIPS
- Use a good quality high-speed blender for extra smooth and creamy smoothies. I like to use this blender, but any blender will be able to get the job done!
- You can turn this smoothie into a smoothie bowl by halving the amount of milk used. This will create a thicker smoothie that can be poured into a bowl and topped with fresh fruit, seeds, granola, yogurt, or nuts.
- If you want to make more smoothie mixture, you can double or triple the recipe, just keep the ratio of ingredients the same.
