The best Starbucks Copycat Honey Latte
I love drinking a cozy warm beverage in the afternoons on a cold day. There is no better way to warm up and get a delicious afternoon pick-me-up. This honey latte is one of my favorite latte recipes to make on a cozy day.
Honey lattes from coffee shops are often made with sugar syrups which are loaded with processed sweeteners, flavorants, and preservatives. This Starbucks copycat honey latte is made using oat milk and natural honey. It can be made in minutes and uses just a few simple ingredients to achieve a delicious and creamy latte that is dairy-free.
I also have a recipe for a plain homemade oat milk latte for you to try out!
This Homemade Honey Latte is:
- Dairy-free. Oat milk is a creamy milk alternative that suits warm beverages perfectly.
- Homemade. Making your own latte at home is a great way to keep it healthy and cheaper than coffee shop versions.
- Customizeable. This recipe can be adapted according to your preferences and there are two methods for frothing your milk.
- Cozy. This latte is creamy, sweet, and lightly spiced which is perfect for cold days.
SO HOW HEALTHY IS OAT MILK?
Oat milk is a healthy milk alternative that offers many health benefits. Oatmilk is high in protein and other important nutrients and is also low in calories. Oat milk is high in fibre and plant-based protein, and promotes a healthy digestive system. So oat milk is a healthy dairy-free milk that tastes creamy and slightly sweet with an light oat-like flavor.
What is in an oatmilk honey latte:
- Oat Milk. Use any brand you prefer!
- Honey. The amount used can be adjusted according to your sweetness preference.
- Espresso. A double or a single shot - it's your choice! You can make this latte without an espresso machine (see below in post)
- Cinnamon. Adds a light spiced flavor to the drink that enhances its flavors.
How to make a homemade Oat Milk Honey Latte
STEP 1 - Brew an espresso. You can choose to make a single shot or a double shot of espresso for your latte.
STEP 2 - Add the honey to the hot espresso and mix together until well combined.
STEP 3 - Froth your oat milk. This can be done using a milk frother, but if you do not have a milk frother there are other alternative methods (find in the section below).
STEP 4 - Pour the prepared espresso mixture into a serving mug or glass.
STEP 5 - Top with the warm frothed oat milk and enjoy immediately.
Can this latte be made without espresso?
All types of lattes (hot and iced) are made using espresso - either a single or double shot. If you don’t have an espresso machine or Nespresso, you can use strong, double-strength coffee or cold brew. This may affect the taste of the latte slightly. Starbucks recommends you brewing your coffee using a ratio of 10g (2 teaspoons) of ground coffee to 180ml of boiling water.
HOW TO FROTH OAT MILK (without a frother):
METHOD 1 - Stovetop
You can froth your oat milk by placing it in a small saucepan over medium heat. Then use a whisk to froth the milk as it warms up - this should take 2 - 5 minutes.
METHOD 2 - Blender
To froth your milk using a blender, warm the milk up using a microwave or stovetop. Place the warm milk in a high-speed blender and blend until frothy - this should take about 1 minute. (Be sure to first check that your blender can handle hot liquids if using this method)
