Why you will love this honey gin & tonic drink

A gin and tonic is a classic, well-loved cocktail. It is easy to make and has a light, crisp taste. This recipe takes this classic drink to the next level by adding lemon and honey flavors to the drink. These flavors combine beautifully with the flavors of a classic G&T.

The zesty flavor from the lemon cordial is paired perfectly with the smooth sweet honey. When making this easy cocktail I used Roses Lemon Cordial but any lemon cordial will work. The cordial can also be replaced with a lemon simple syrup.

Which cocktail is typically made with gin?

Gin is a highly popular distilled alcohol that derives its predominant flavor from juniper berries. There are many different cocktails that are gin-based. Some of the classic drinks that are typically made with gin include a martini, a gin & tonic, a bee's knees, a gin fizz, and a gin sour.

What you will need to make this gin cocktail / mocktail

This cocktail recipe has just four simple, delicious ingredients. You will also need ice cubes and serving glasses - but no cocktail shaker is needed to make this easy cocktail! To make this easy gin and tonic you will need:

  • Honey: Any sort will do! A thinner consistency works best so it could be helpful to warm your honey slightly if it is on the thick side.
  • Lemon cordial (or lemon simple syrup): Adds a sweet zesty flavor to the cocktail.
  • Gin: Any kind works, so use your favorite! (Omit for a non-alcoholic mocktail version)
  • Tonic water: Its distinctive bitter flavor balances out the cocktail and it adds lots of refreshing bubbles.

How to make gin and tonic with lemon and honey

This cocktail is incredibly easy to make. All you have to do is combine the honey and lemon cordial. You can do this in a cocktail shaker or just mix them together in a small bowl or jug - or even in the glass itself! (TIP: I like to first melt the honey for a few seconds in the microwave to make it slightly runnier.)

Once the lemon and honey is combined, pour it into serving glasses which are filled with ice cubes. Add a shot of your favorite gin to each glass. (TIP: You can leave out the gin to turn this cocktail into a mocktail.)

Top the drink with tonic water and give it a gentle stir. You are then ready to enjoy your lemon and honey G&T!

How to make a mocktail Gin & Tonic

To turn this gin and tonic into a mocktail, simply leave out the gin from the recipe and it will still be full of flavor and bubbles. Another option is to replace the gin in the recipe with your favorite non-alcoholic gin to create a delicious mocktail.
