This easy apple walnut loaf recipe is full of delicious ingredients that are easy to find. It is a simple recipe that is bursting with flavor from all the yummy ingredients.
To make the apple walnut loaf cake you will need:
- Flour. For a regular loaf use all-purpose flour and for a gluten-free loaf use oat flour & cornstarch (cornflour). This is a perfect combination of gluten-free flours to make a moist, light loaf.
- Granulated sugar. For a touch of sweetness.
- Baking soda. To make the loaf light and fluffy in texture.
- Coconut oil. Keeps the loaf cake moist.
- Eggs. Room temperature is best.
- Vanilla extract. To enhance the taste of the loaf and add yummy vanilla flavor.
- Ground cinnamon. Gives the loaf lots of warm cinnamon flavor.
- Milk. Any milk will work - including dairy cow's milk alternatives if you want a dairy-free option such as oat milk or almond milk.
- Apples. Pink or green crisp apples work best for this loaf.
- Walnuts. Adds lots of yummy crunchy texture and nutty flavor.
This delicious, moist loaf cake is topped with an easy cream cheese frosting that is soft, sweet, and creamy. I also added a drizzle of caramel on top of the frosting for even more deliciousness.

CARAMEL & CREAM CHEESE FROSTING:

- Add the powdered sugar and mix until well combined.
- Once the loaf has cooled completely, add the frosting and drizzle over the caramel.
- Cut into thick slices and enjoy.
Tips for gluten-free baking:
- Make sure to follow the recipe precisely, usually, I'm not a stickler for baking rules but when it comes to gluten-free baking the slightest change can cause a change in the end product.
- Oats are naturally gluten-free, but sometimes they are processed in factories that use gluten, so make sure that the oat flour you buy states that it is gluten-free.
