Ingredients and Notes

When it comes to a Gin and Juice Drink, the exact recipe is really up to you. You can customize it to your exact preferences. The combination of ingredients that you will need is as follows:

  • Gin. We recommend using a dry gin that is bold and not too delicate. This is so that it can hold its own when mixed with the juice. Softer gins can work great too, but depending on their botanical makeup, they may pair better with a sweeter juice or a more sour one.
  • Juice. You can use your favorite juice for this recipe - it is completely up to you. A very popular choice for this cocktail is a mix of orange and grapefruit juice. But feel free to experiment with different juices such as cranberry juice, apple juice, or pineapple juice.
  • Simple Syrup (optional). Some Gin & Juice recipes suggest adding simple syrup. We recommend doing this if you like your drinks on the sweeter side or if you primarily use grapefruit juice or if you added lemon or lime to your Gin and Juice Drink.

Garnish Suggestions

When it comes to garnishing this simple cocktail there are a few options you could consider, along with the must-have ice cubes of course. Adding a garnish to your drink is entirely optional - you can keep it as simple or as elaborate as you like.

If you feel like making your drink a bit more special and celebratory, we have some garnish suggestions that we feel work well with Gin and Juice Drinks:

  • A lime or lemon wedge
  • Fresh mint
  • Orange slice
  • Lemon or lime wheel
  • Edible flowers
  • Lemon or lime zest twist

How to Make a Gin and Juice Drink

This is an easy recipe to follow with just a few simple steps. You don't need any fancy bar equipment because you build the drink right in the serving glass - so there's no need to shake with ice, strain, muddle, or stir.

The step-by-step instructions to make this a Gin and Juice Drink are as follows:

STEP ONE

Fill a serving glass with ice cubes.

STEP TWO

Add your gin and top with juice. Mix together gently for 30 seconds.

If you are wanting to create a layered look, pour the gin slowly on top of the fruit juice and ice and serve with a spoon or mixing stick.

STEP THREE

Add any desired garnish and enjoy immediately.

How to make a Large Batch Pitcher Version

It is easy to make and serve Gin and Juice Drinks in a pitcher when catering to a crowd. All you have to do is add the gin, juice, and simple syrup to a large pitcher according to how many servings you desire. Simply scale the amounts of each ingredient up proportionally to make the amount you need.

Gently stir and serve over ice or store the pitcher in your refrigerator until you are ready. You can add orange or lemon slices to the pitcher, or alternatively, you can garnish each individual drink as desired.

Gin and Juice Tips

Choose your Gin - The quality of the gin will greatly affect the taste of your cocktail. Try the recipe out with a few different types of gin to find your favorite. Different gins all have different flavor undertones and you'll definitely like some more than others.

Alcohol-Free Option – Non-alcoholic gin can be used for this recipe. There are some great zero-proof gins on the market that are perfect for mocktails as they still add the flavor of gin without any alcohol content.

Amount of Gin - You can adjust the amount of gin you add to your cocktail based on taste and how strong you want the drink to be.

Choose your ice - You can serve this drink with crushed ice or whole ice. Just keep in mind that as the ice melts it will start to slightly dilute the drink.

Is Gin The Healthiest Alcohol?

Gin is one of the healthiest types of alcohol. Gin is made from juniper berries, it is low in calories, and due to being made with botanical properties, it adds many health-boosting qualities. It does still contain alcohol though so always drink responsibly.

I hope you love this easy Gin and Juice Drink recipe as much as I do. And if you want to see more of my food adventures, follow me on Instagram or Facebook.
