Preheat the oven to 180ºC and spray the muffin pan with non-stick spray.
Place the butter and both sugars in a mixer fitted with a paddle attachment
Cream together then add the vanilla, mashed bananas, buttermilk and eggs.
Meanwhile, whisk together the remaining ingredients.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
Fill the muffin tin (about ¾ full) and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve with a dollop of butter or add a little frosting to turn these beauties into banana cupcakes.
