A few of My Kitchen Essentials that are proven and tested. Every cook and bakers everyday essentials.
Okay so you guys know that I spend most of my days slaving away in the kitchen. I absoloutely love baking and making cakes and have recently discovered a love for making desserts in a healthy way. So that means even more time in the kitchen experimenting and whipping up some delicious things and some not so edible goodies.
Through my many successful bakes and tons of not so successful cakes and goodies I have also discovered which things are vital to me in the kitchen. I have broken many spatulas that claim to be super strong and had a few mixers that just couldn’t handle the pressure. SOOO… today I am sharing with you all my favourite kitchen essentials. These are the things that I use on a daily basis and maybe a few that I am still dreaming about one day purchasing. Now, by no means do you need any of these things to be a successful baker, but they are things that have made my life so much easier.
This is my number one. My baby! Aaaah I spent years dreaming about a Kitchen Aid while hand mixing my cake batters and breaking tons of whisks in the process. I finally received my Kitchen Aid as a gift from a whole bunch of fabulous people who put all their pennies together to get me one. Before that, I also did tons of research about which stand mixer to get. Mainly, because I didn’t want myself, or anyone else to spend tons of money on something that wasn’t going to do the job properly or that wasn’t going to last very long. So the reason why I decided on the Kitchen Aid, wasn’t only because it is so incredibly pretty, but because it is sturdy. It is good old fashioned sturdy. It doesn’t have a whole bunch of technology in it, so there it cannot become outdated or the technology can’t become faulty. It is also incredibly heavy and strong, which one wouldn’t often think of as an essential thing. But when you one day want to whip up a bread dough then suddenly you realize that you never want a stand mixer that is going to jump around your kitchen counter trying to mix your dough. This baby is tough! It is amazing and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Spatula oh Spatula!
I think I own about 50 spatulas. And I actually use them all. When I bake I love having a whole bunch of spatulas on hand so that I don’t have to keep washing them in between making batter and folding in egg whites. So I always have a whole bunch of them with me while I’m baking. At the same time, I have probably broken about a hundred spatulas. I find that most of them are incredibly flimsy and really not able to hand a little dough. I am also very specific about my spatulas, because I want them to be strong, but I also want them to have a good floppy edge so that it can’t properly scrape the sides of the mixing bowl. Okay I am super hectic I know. But here is a few of my favourite spatulas that I use all the time:
Oh man, do I love this baby. I did not think that I would use it as often as I do. But I use it ALL the time. It is so incredibly easy to quickly whip up a smoothie and it doesn’t leave a massive mess and you don’t have to assemble and disassemble a million parts to clean it. It is so effortless and easy. And I often use it to make flours as well, especially oat flour and almond flour. Because lets get real, those are darn expensive.
Investing in a good baking sheet is so worth it. You never have to worry about things getting stuck or when you burn things, like I often do, it just wipes right off. That’s pretty awesome right? I invested in a Le Creuset baking sheet and I use it literally all the time to make cookies and bars and even granola.
So those are my 4 main things that are worth investing in, but here are a few other things that I use in and around the Baking-Ginger Kitchen:
