DIY Healthy Vegan Nutella – A easy to follow nutella recipe that is vegan and gluten free but still just as delicious.
Nutella! Nutella! Who doesn’t love Nutella? Am I right? I normally skip the bread and eat it straight out of the jar. Although Nutella isn’t too unhealthy, it is still packed with sugar and also contains diary. Since I have been trying to avoid dairy and gluten a little I have been trying to find ways of still getting to eat all my favourite things (have a look at my vegan, gluten free chocolate cake recipe). And naturally Nutella is one of those things I find incredibly difficult to give up because it is just so incredibly satisfying. I love the mixture of chocolate and hazelnuts.
So with my Nutella addiction in mind, I headed to the kitchen with great determination to make my very own dairy free, refined sugar free Nutella. That most importantly is still super dooper delicious!
The recipe is actually incredibly basic. It consists of hazelnuts, which you could either buy roasted or if you buy raw hazelnuts, then simply pop them into the oven for about 15-20min. Make sure that you stir them around every now and then. Then the other ingredients consist of coconut oil, cocoa, agave nectar or xylitol syrup and lastly a little dark chocolate just to give it that real decadence.
This DIY Healthy Vegan Nutella is delicious with virtually everything. You could even substitute it for usual Nutella when making Nutella Croissants, or Nutella & Chia Energy Bites. It is also delicious on a slice of bread, or as I prefer it straight outta the jar y’all! 😉
To make the DIY Healthy Vegan Nutella all you have to do is chuck the hazelnuts into your blender (I used my little Kenwood food processor). I then add the cocoa powder once the hazelnuts are crushed into a coarse powder. Then continue to blend, ensuring that you scrape the sides down every now and then. Then add the remaining ingredients and blend until you have a delicious chocolaty Nutella! YUM!
