Today is a quick and easy post as well as a quick and easy recipe. Well you can’t really call it a recipe, it’s a matter of melting chocolate and chucking sweets on it. But i’ve been seeing all these beautiful cakes with these shards of chocolate on top and I absolutely LOVE the way it looks. Whoever invented this whole bark idea is a genius. For years cake decorations have always consisted of buttercream, fondant, marzipan or all these other barely edible things. And while I love working with fondant and buttercream, it doesn’t quite do the same trick as having pieces of chocolate and MnM’s on the top of a cake.
To make the Chocolate Candy Bark, I used dark chocolate because I like how the bitterness of the chocolate is balanced out with the sweetness of all the other toppings and candies. But you can really use any chocolate that you prefer. I then chopped up the chocolate and melted it in the microwave. The pour it into a lined baking sheet and sprinkled on literally everything and anything I could find in my kitchen. I used Astro’s, MnM’s, Kit Kat’s, and a variety of sprinkles just to give it that sparkle.
